Meeting the Nereid of the Silvering Sea

A small RP excerpt taking place at the bottom of the Bay of Bay of Viir’Nais, the first meeting between Rhodan Fishbottoms and the mysterious Stellina Havfure.

Rhodan Fishbottoms entered the cave, barely paying attention to where he swanas he watched the crystals floating over his hand dance their merry dance. As he neared the large crystal near the end of the cave, he looked up and w s surprised to find someone else already basking in its gentle glow. He paused for a moment, unsure of what to do, then subtly cleared his gills with a little cough. "Greetings, am I interrupting?" he asked carefully.

Stellina Havfure was in her slumber with her eyes closed in the end of the tunnel, lolling freely with her fins splayed and tenderly winded by the flow of the concocted water…As the spirit of the silvering sea wanted to be in a serene and warm environment, which the large crystal fulfilled… It was hours before she started her slumber, so she already deep in her subconscious past REM cycle. Unlike fish, she had lids covering her eyes as she slept. In that empty headspace, she heard a cough echoing and followed by the jittery male voice interrupting but asking whether it was that… She slowly opened her eyes to half lid to feel the water rushing under lids and exposing her shimmering purple eyes when she had the vision of an emerald tinged merman before her. She got bit timid in his presence and flapped her fins before saying short in her echoing double voice, "No" which sounded sweet and short as as always, the Moon Spirit chose to speak less and only when needed

Rhodan Fishbottoms tried a warm and disarming smile at the lovely nereid. He was sure he had never seen her here before in all his years living in the bay, even before the city above was built, but somehow she felt familiar. As if she'd always been here somehow. "I apologize, I did not mean to wake you up. My name is Rhodan, I was hoping to check the crystal's health today… I can come back some other time if that is more convenient?" He raised his hand as he mentions the crystal, the smaller crystals hovering over his palm arranging themselves in a cluster roughly the shape of the larger crystal inhabiting this cave.

Stellina Havfure was indeed familiar to most of the fish folks who breathe water as they might have been grown up hearing about her legend and the myths about her transpired in various versions across every known seas. Even this bay under the City of Ansa'fel had an effigy of her in the middle of the bay as a temple, she was familiar that way…But yet she wanted to remain unknown and concealed her identity as much as she could. Ever since land dwellers started abusing the sea, she deliberately avoided contact with them, since if they come to know she existed, it would be horrendous. Right then, she gave a subtle smile on one corner of her lips as he introduced himself and checked her convenience. She was impressed by his decency and said in short, "All right, Rhodan" and looked at the crystal through her shoulder as he talked about checking its health… he peered back at him conjuring something with the crystals on his palm She smirked at him as he did that… But to her all that was child's play… but yet she maintained her naive demeanor and asked calmly, "So is it healthy?"...She knew the answer and she even strengthened the crystal a bit with her mere presence, yet she had to ask for his gratification.

Rhodan Fishbottoms nodded. "It has been in rather good health for a while now. It's been practically glowing, lately! There is a lot of energy in the water these days." With that last remark, he gave her a knowing little wink, before swimming up to the crystal and gently running his fingertips along the edge. As he did so, the crystals in his other hand emitted a soft hum that he listened to carefully. "I have been studying the crystals here for a long time now. Both above and below the water. And even some of the ones that are…. adjacent. This one has a small malformation at the base, needs some pruning every few weeks to keep its purity." He reached down to where the crystal met the stone and ran his finger along the edge. Some shards of the crystal broke off, small little polygons similar to the ones surrounding him, but sinking down readily before he scooped them up. "See? The local aura crystallizes onto the larger crystal right there. Want one?"

Stellina Havfure nodded along as he talked with zeal about crystal. She could understand his adherent interest over the crystalomancy and gleaned with his attire and the small crystal floating on his palm, he must be some Mage. As he gave her a wink, she grew her grin and watched him move to the crystal as he literally pampered it. She was pleased to see a being so caring for magic as she does. She knew about that particular crystal being weak, it kind of called out to her, that was her sudden appearance out of the blue. She remarked, "You know them so much…Great!" with a appreciating tone… She saw the shards getting spilled and pulled back to his origin like some force yanking them back and frowned. She was worried about that, breaking up with just a simple run of fingers like that was no good to the divinity of the crystal. She was worried about the aura growing weak… it meant something bad is with the Waters of Silvering… She changed her visage back to grinning demeanor as he asked if she wants one and said, "No Rhodan… You take good care of it though" with a comforting tone and smile.

Rhodan Fishbottoms slipped the freshly harvested crystals into his breast pocket, they did not yet float like the enchanted ones surrounding him, hence their falling as he broke them loose. "I suppose I do… But I found that in the pursuit of knowledge, it hardly pays to harm your subject of study." His work with the crystal done for now, or perhaps shortened because of his admittedly rather lovely company, he turned his full attention to the nereid. "I don't think I quite caught your name., miss..?" he asked, adjusting the thin, wire-framed glasses up his nose a little as he let his gaze wander over her.

Stellina Havfure noticed him collecting the crystals for study may be she presumed and listened him say about his passion without harming his subject… She nodded with a smile and said, "Yes! You are wise!!" in short, whatever appreciation and adoration she had over his zeal, it was just short sentence and confined smile in her demeanor… Such was her nature. When he asked her name in witty ways as he could, she smirked and said with a shake of her head, "I never said my name so it be caught…." gave a pause and continued with a gentle blink on her eyes, "Havfure", and stopped. Was it her name…well not really…It was the common name for her kind in different dialect…yet she used it to remain a mystery.

"Havfure," Rhodan Fishbottoms repeated to himself, trying to get the pronunciation right. "It was an absolute pleasure to meet you. I sense a lot of mystery surrounding you, and not the coy kind that mermaids so often shroud themselves in." He rubbed his bearded chin thoughtfully for a moment, then continued. "I live nearby, in the head-shaped structure on the north side of the deepest part of the bay. You are more than welcome to visit sometime for a snack or a chat." With that, he let a few of the crystals in his hand slip free to join the parade of glittering rocks surrounding him and prepared to make a graceful exit. "I must take my leave now, to transplant these little crystallets I just gathered. I look forward to seeing you again." With that, he waved her a friendly goodbye with his tailfin, gracefully swimming towards the exit.

Stellina Havfure smiled earnestly as he mentioned about a feel of mystery surrounding her and smirked at the end as he said about she not being coy, but she usually will be around other beings…but he was her own kind…so felt natural and rhythmic with him. She shrugged with her head canting to a side as a response to his remark about her…Then she nodded thinking about the place he was mentioning and replied, "Sure Rhodan! Be good as ever" and watched him swim away in adorbs of his wisdom and politeness which was hard to find as most of the merman shrouded themselves with promiscuous masculinity, yet he was a person with zeal towards Crystallomancy.
