A roleplay transcript by Orchid and Ezran

:: Orchid Willowbreeze Flutters over and lands on a log. "Hello. My name is Orchid what is yours?"

:: Ezran looks up as the fairy sits down across from him. "Welcome to the fire," he says with a smile, "my name is Ezran." So saying, he returns to his contemplation of the flames.

:: Orchid Rubbing my hands together near the fire I smiles at the man. "Ezran. Nice name. I am still new. Have not existed long. Been exploring my creation place."

Snapshot_001

:: Ezran looks up again. "Ah, you are a tatterling," he says, referring to the Tirgathan name for fairies created by magical events, rather than born to citizens of the village. "What power brought you into being?" he asks, curious about this fairly rare event.

:: Orchid Smiles happily "I was made from a special baby's laugh. The mother is magic and the father is dragon."

:: Ezran looks back into the fire. "A dragon," he says thoughtfully. He sits that way for a moment or two, his blue eyes reflecting the amber light. "Do you know yet whether you are bonded to the child?" he asks. "Sometimes tatterlings are just a magical happenstance, and sometimes they are bound in some way to the event that created them."

Snapshot_003

:: Orchid Nods my head. "Yes I think I am as I sense the child is not here. When she returns I hope to finally see her."

:: Ezran nods again. He looks up, taking in the fairy's pink hair and iridescent wings. "It will be a happy child, I think," he says after a moment, and then returns to silence. Again he sits in thought, sometimes glancing out to sea, sometimes into the fire. "Well, you are welcome in Moon Willow," he says. "I am captain of the fae contingent of the Willowguard. If I can be of any service in orienting you to our realm here please let me know."

Snapshot_005

:: Orchid "Thank you as this is where I was created it will be my home."

:: Ezran smiles. "All fae are welcome on the Isle of the Rising Moon," he says, gesturing to the shoreline. The forest is filled with many creatures, but the home of the fae - if they wish it - is within the village of Tirgatha, yonder. Have you found it yet?"

:: Orchid Nods my head "Yes I have. It is very pretty."

Snapshot_008

:: Ezran nods. "Good," he says, and returns his gaze to the fire.

:: Orchid "You look troubled. What is wrong?"

:: Ezran looks up. "It is kind of you to ask," he says thoughtfully. "I am reflecting on recent events. Just before your birth, a sickness afflicted the forest. The nymphs of Moonflower Hollow were able to cure it, with the aid of Ansa`fel's high wizard. But the magic that created it appears to have stirred an ancient magic within the forest itself that had slumbered for many centuries. We are.... monitoring it."

Snapshot_009

:: Orchid Looks thoughtful and my wings flutter a bit. "You wonder if it had something to do with me being created?"

:: Ezran shakes his head. "I don't think your birth and this event are connected. Tatterlings are not common, but they are not unheard of either. I suspect your creation is to do with the magic of the child's parents. The ancient power that has awoken in the forest is something else, I feel."

:: Orchid Tilts my head " Is this anceint magic good or bad?"

Snapshot_011

:: Ezran shifts on his stone and thinks for a moment before answering. "Neither," he says at length. "At least so we think. It is a part of the forest, so like the forest it is both life and death. But it is an ancient part of the forest from before there was Tirgatha. We do not know how such an ancient power will see our presence here."

Snapshot_016

:: Orchid Stares into the fire pondering this. "If it don't like our presence?"

:: Ezran tilts his head to one side. "That's what concerns me." He shrugs. "But worrying about it will do little good. Only time will tell."

:: Orchid Nods my head. "That is true."

:: Ezran puts another log on the fire and returns to his contemplation of the flames. "I will need to visit the city and let the king know, I think," he says at length. His tone indicates that he has little love for Ansa`fel. "And perhaps to use their library. It is better than our own, even for knowledge of the forest."

Snapshot_017

:: Orchid "Does the King not come here?"

:: Ezran thinks for a moment. "Rarely," he says, "though he came recently, with Queen Etain. It is possible they will visit more often, I suppose. The Isle is technically within his dominion, though we have never been deeply involved with the affairs of the wider kingdom." The way he explains this suggest that in Ezran's view, at least, the king's rule of the Isle is more a courtesy than a requirement for the fae.

Snapshot_021

:: Orchid "You sound as if you don't care for the city, I have been there. It is so nice to fly over and watch everyone move about below. I even raced the boats and I seem to be a very fast flier. If you wish I can deliver messages and even bring you books from the library just tell me what you are looking for."

Snapshot_023

:: Ezran smiles. "I grew up in Belsinor in Astratti," he says, gesturing across the waters in what he assumes is the approximate direction of that kingdom. "I came to Moon Willow Forest to get away from stone walkways and the stench of industry. Ansa`fel is far grander, of course, but it is still a city." He shrugs. "But I must do my duty, and so I will call upon the king." He smiles at her description of racing the boats. "I am glad you have been able to find pleasure there," he says with warmth in his voice. "As to the library, I'm afraid I do not know what I am looking for. I suppose anything titled along the lines of 'A History of the Isle of the Rising Moon' or 'Moon Willow Forest - Ancient Lore'..."

Snapshot_002

:: Orchid Takes note of what names of the forest he mentions. "I will gladly look for these in the library for you and bring them here. Since you came here to get away from the city. If you have messages you wish to have delivered to him. If it pleases him and you, I will gladly offer my wings. This is my home now and I do wish it to stay that way."

:: Ezran nods. "For the books I will be most grateful," he says, "but it would not be appropriate for you to speak to the king on my behalf. There are formalities to be followed and I would not shirk my duty. The city will not kill me and a long bath in our warm pools will clean it from my skin when I return." He watches the fire, which has died down as they have been speaking. "Unless you wish me to, I will not add another log. Shortly I must take my leave and keep an appointment with the centaurs."

Snapshot_024

:: Orchid Covers a soft yawn. "It is getting late I must agree and I need to find a tree to sleep in until I find a home. You have a good night and I will get you those books first thing at day break.

:: Ezran smiles. "Thank you, Orchid. If I am not around, you can leave them with Babblebrook at the Tirgatha market. He will hold them for me. If you wish to sleep, there is a hammock in the trees behind me. Or you can take a cottage in the village."

:: Orchid Smiles gratefully "The hammock sounds lovely and will do. Good night Ezran." My wings flutter as I fly away

:: Ezran watches the newborn tatterling fairy fly away, feeling somehow lighter at the thought of not visiting Ansa`fel quite so often. He picks up his staff and takes wing himself, heading for the centaur village.
