The Birth and Death of Light

When the white rose of the 466th moon fully bloomed in the city of Targues of the Kingdom of Astratti, Ysorrowen emerged. The faerie was kind and pure, full of beauty and grace. As with most faerie maidens her skin was unblemished, her features fragile and flawless, and long lustrous hair of an ethereal white lay unfettered about her shoulders and cascaded fully down her back. Her mind was keen and quick and she harnessed a divine light which she used to heal the sick, strengthen the weak, and mend the souls of the recently departed. She had trained with one of the most talented priests ever to exist, and Yssie was eventually granted the title of High Priestess due to the precision and attentiveness to her work, extreme dedication to her art, and ongoing charity work for the community.

But even for someone as structured and disciplined as Ysorrowen, she found that life was full of surprises she had no control over. Her mentor, the priest, became her best friend and eventually the two became lovers - if only for a spell. It was through him she met someone who would change her life forever. During the time of the affair, she was introduced to a warlock. He was a friend of her lover’s and was vastly skilled in his craft, impressively knowledgeable, and also quite arrogant. Soon it became clear the warlock coveted the priest’s young priestess lover.

Several months passed, and Yssie decided she would rather keep the priest’s friendship than continue on with the torrid affair. Even after it ended, the two remained very close. This was fortunate for her as it was this priest who helped map out her salvation. It was he who was solely responsible for her existence today.

Over time, the faerie Ysorrowen continued to reject the warlock’s advances. He grew more persistent and impatient with her each passing day. So he plotted and schemed, eventually taking her away from her home while she slept. The fae tried to escape over the course of several weeks, and the warlock became more angry with each attempt until he eventually had a collar fashioned in which he magically welded about her neck. The same curse was applied to the shackles at her thighs. The specific type of magic is unknown to those this very day, but one can garner it was some ancient curse the warlock placed upon the shackles, tethering her to him and rendering the metal bindings indestructible and, therefore, not to be removed.

The priest continued to search for Yssie during the time of her disappearance. He sought answers, found clues, followed leads, but the trail always led him to a dead end. During this time, the warlock continued to mercilessly tame her, in which he finally did to the point where she surrendered to him. He then became her Master, and she his slave. She served him for many years before the great escape.
